Dear Customer,

 

We had a network outage at our eBRC Windhof datacenter this morning from 07:31 am CET until 07:59 am CET on December 10. From initial investigation, it appears that one of the core switches had a software issue, causing a network-wide flapping spanning-tree. Overall effect was that the switching fabric for our eBRC Windhof datacenter was unusable.

 

To mitigate this issue going forward, we have make two changes.

. We disabled an unstable link with was causing too many spanning-tree topology changes.

. We also further tuned spanning-tree protection on every switch.

 

Furthermore, we have a priority case open with the vendor to determine the cause of the issue as we did capture debug logs.

 

We apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused. We'll continue to follow up with the vendor to make sure this issue does not happen again.
